Want to save those e-mailed photos?

This tip explains how to scoop up photos from an e-mail and save them in the folder of your choosing.

Saving E-mailed Photos to a Folder on your PC

Photos arrive by e-mail either of two ways. Some of them are embedded in the e-mail itself, much the way you see photos on a Web page. You can see these photos simply by looking at the e-mail.

Other photos arrive as attachments -- little icons, often a paper clip, that live on the "Attachments" line near the top of an e-mail.

When your photos arrive embedded in an e-mail, save them by doing this:
  1. Right-click the photo to fetch the pop-up menu.
  2. Choose Save Image As or Save Picture As.
  3. Choose your My Pictures folder (or any other folder), and click OK.
This trick also works with photos you see on a Web site.

When you see photos attached as icons in Outlook Express, save them by doing this:
  1. Open the message in Outlook Express.
  2. Click the File menu and choose Save Attachments.
  3. Choose the attachments you want to save.
  4. Click the Browse button and navigate to your My Pictures folder (or any other folder, for that matter).
  5. Click Save.
